Polestar intends to make its EVs eco-friendlier than ever

The premium carmaker says it will use plant materials and recycled waste for interior finishing, reducing the carbon footprint and making the cars lighter than ever.

In particular, Polestar intends to use Bcomp flax-fiber panels instead of common plastic panels and wrap seats in special covers woven from recycled PET bottles. For instance, the Polestar 2 (in the video) already uses a synthetic fabric known as WeaveTech, which comes as a replacement for cheap imitation leather.

The company also endeavors to derive the necessary materials from the waste generated by the fish processing industry and winemaking businesses. Corkwood is said to make an excellent biological ornamentation for the interior, while old fishing nets can be repurposed as fine nylon floor mats.
