The battery fastback prototype featured in the video is called the Polestar 2 Arctic Circle, and it is currently running tests in its name-giving region.
The company says the car was built for winter rally racing, but has no mass-market prospects at the moment. It rides on adjustable Öhlins shocks and benefits from a 30% softer ride than the road-worthy Polestar 2. 19-inch OZ Racing wheels are wrapped in winter rally tires with more than the usual number of spikes per tire (490+). The ride height is 30 mm (1.2”) higher than stock.
Elsewhere, the one-off racer features four-piston Brembo brakes that street-legal car owners can get for a premium, and a launch control system. Additional headlights and underbody protection complete the build from the outside.
Inside, the electric motor churns out 475 PS (468 hp / 349 kW) and 680 Nm (502 lb-ft) of torque. There is no mention of acceleration times, but the stock version has 408 PS (402 hp / 300 kW) and sprints to 100 km/h in less than five seconds.
Notable accessories in the cabin include Recaro bucket seats and a carbon-fiber shovel in the trunk, which will come in handy if the car gets lodged in snow after leaving the track.
