Polestar 3 gets discounted ahead sales launch

Polestar has announced the pricing of its upcoming flagship SUV EV, the Polestar 3, in North America. The base price is now $73,400, much less than the $83,900 the company promised during the presentation in the fall of 2022. There will also be four trim levels to choose from instead of just two as originally expected.

In its base form the Polestar 3 drives all four wheels with electric motors producing 496 PS (489 hp / 365 kW) and 840 Nm (620 lb-ft) of torque. The EV needs five seconds to accelerate from zero to 96.6 km/h (60 miles per hour). Its battery is rated for 111 kilowatt-hours and should be enough for 507 km (315 miles) of range, but EPA has yet to issue an official range certificate for the model.

Standard features for all trims include Pilot Pack with Pilot Assist. The driver gets parking assistance, lane change assistance and a heads-up display, among other things.

An extra $5,500 buys you the so-called Plus Pack. It replaces the standard wheels with 21-inch “Plus” rims, adds seat heating and new upholstery, and upgrades the multimedia experience with a 25-channel Bowers & Wilkins audio system. It features a single high-end subwoofer, outputs a nominal 1,610W and has been specifically designed for the Polestar 3, the vendor claims.

There is also a Sport Pack with 22-inch forged rims, tweaked suspension and a software tune to 524 PS (517 hp / 386 kW) and 910 Nm (671 lb-ft). This version of the car cuts the sprint time by one-third of a second, but also runs out of battery juice after 449 km (279 miles).

The performance trim starts from $79,400, and the Plus Pack adds another $5,500 on top of that.
