Swedish-Chinese automaker Polestar will be renting a part of the industrial complex formerly belonging to Saab to conduct electric powertrain tests, Automobilwoche reports.
The plant occupies an area of 15,000 square meters (~161,500 square feet). Saab originally used it to design and build drivetrains for cars. The lessee plans to design, build and test electric motors and batteries there for its Polestar 6 roadster and Polestar 5 hatchback (featured in the gallery and the video below).
We already know that the model number five will come to the market equipped with dual motors jointly rated at 884 PS (872 hp / 650 kW) and 900 Nm (664 lb-ft) of torque. Its mass production will begin in China next year.
