Polestar 5 revealed well ahead of production

Geely-owned car brand Polestar has unveiled the production-ready version of its ‘5’ liftback during the Polestar Day earlier this week. The car will have ultrafast charging support when it reaches production in late 2024.

On the whole, the Polestar 5 resembles the model number 4 that the company showed us before. Like that coupe-SUV, it lacks a rear window and has unconventional headlights. The linked taillights, on the other hand, appear larger than those of the Polestar 4.

A specially designed aluminum chassis makes the new EV lighter than the competition, the company claims. Its powertrain is also remarkable, pushing out 884 PS (872 hp / 650 kW) and 900 Nm (664 lb-ft) of torque from two electric motors.

StoreDot, a partner of Polestar, is currently assisting the company in developing a particularly fast charging device compatible with the latest battery tech. Once finished, it should let drivers replenish 160 km (100 miles) of range in just five minutes.

Aside from revealing the Polestar 5, the Swedish brand has also made some statements about the coupe-like model number 4. It will come equipped with a Luminar LiDAR and a suite of other high-precision sensors, which will let it utilize a self-driving system known as the Mobileye Chauffeur. It will reach production in Busan, South Korea, in 2025, a milestone that will mark the next stage of partnership between Geely and Renault.
