When electric carmaker Polestar announced the 6 LA Concept Edition roadster destined to reach production in 2026, the company did not expect that all 500 cars would be sold out via pre-orders within a week.
The company admitted that it reserved a certain number of pre-order slots for different countries: for instance, ordering in China and South Korea will only be possible later this month.
The roadster itself resembles the 02 Concept it is based upon and will be later released as a normal production car running on electric power. The 500 units reported as sold out are from the first production batch called First Edition, which will reach the market before the others.
The droptop will ride on the same platform as the Polestar 5 and use a dual-motor powertrain capable of 884 PS (872 hp / 650 kW) and 900 Nm (664 lb-ft). It will reach 100 km/h (62 mph) from standstill in 3.2 seconds.
According to Thomas Ingenlath, the high demand is largely owing to the unique experience of driving a powerful and silent soft-top car the Polestar 6 LA promises.
