German luxury car manufacturer Porsche has released the first video featuring its upcoming Taycan EV. The liftback series will hit the showrooms next year.
The Taycan Concept celebrated its premiere at the Paris Motor Show two years ago. It came equipped with two electric engines (one per axle) capable of 600+ hp (450+ kW).
The prototype car also had a 95 kWh battery sufficient for at least 500 kilometers of uninterrupted driving.
The Porsche Taycan will enter production in Germany in 2019, followed by a still unannounced all-electric estate car series. Porsche has created a virtual test mule of the latter and spent several months testing it on a 3D map of the Nürburgring North Loop circuit. According to the company, this approach enabled it to optimize the power consumption of the vehicle even before the first test mule was built.
