Wild 1956 Pontiac Star Chief restomod evaluated at $1M

As you may know, 1950s-era car classics aren’t as popular among the U.S. restoration workshops as those from the 1970s. The reasons are many, but you can bet on a ‘50s car costing you much more to turn into a modern daily driver. This example by Customs by Kilkeary proves it while still being one insanely good-looking restomod.

The source vehicle is a 65-year-old Pontiac Star Chief that got stripped down to the last screw, cleaned and painted anew. The windshield was chopped for better aerodynamic efficiency, and the ground clearance was all but annihilated. A custom chassis by Roadster Shop and an air-ride suspension kit were used to achieve such a low stance.

Staggered EVOD wheels filled out the arches sized 20×9 front and 22×12 rear. Like the rest of the exterior décor, they were given a chrome finish.

The tuner took great care to keep the interior stylistically consistent with the age the car rolled off its assembly line. Everything from the caramel-hued seats to the dashboard looks retro, with not a display in view. Blue floor mats echo the exterior paint, while the soft top stays black.

Power is provided by a 6.8-liter V8 with a Whipple supercharger; numbers aren’t available.

The unique ride costs U.S. $1,000,000.
