World’s clunkiest Ferrari Enzo replica goes up on sale

What used to be a perfectly valid 1986 Pontiac Fiero became a massive tuning failure when its owner decided to cross-breed it with the iconic Ferrari Enzo.

The car – the exterior of which we are not inclined to touch with a ten-foot pole, thank you – comes powered by a 2.8-liter V6 rated at 140 hp (104 kW). An automatic transmission delivers what little power it has to the wheels, and the odometer shows 150,000+ miles (240,000+ km) of use. Wiring hangs loose in the cabin, many instruments and systems don’t function as expected, and the exhaust is dirty enough to preclude it from being a road car in the modern world.

Despite all of its shortcomings – or could it be because of them? – the improvised Ferrari Fiero / Pontiac Enzo attracts plenty of attention from potential buyers. The highest bid has recently crossed U.S. $4,500, and Jay Leno himself dedicated a whole video to the car.
