Despite its exotic status, the Zimmer Quicksilver has been bid to $19,500 USD with only one day remaining on the clock.
The Zimmer company was founded in 1978. Its first creation was a neoclassic take on the Ford Mustang called Golden Spirit. Zimmer managed to sell over 1,500 units. The second – Quicksilver – had been made since 1984 until 1988. Only 175 cars worth $52,000 each were made until the manufacturer went bankrupt.
Underpinning the coachbuilt ride is a Pontiac Fiero chassis, which now carries a new body adorned with chrome trim parts and pop-up headlights. The cabin is predominantly finished in red and houses a cassette player, a cruise control system and an air conditioner.
This particular example had belonged to one owner from 1986 until 2020. With less than a thousand kilometers (620 miles) on the odo, it is allegedly in great condition. Its 2.8-liter six-cylinder engine drives the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic gearbox, making 140 PS (138 hp / 103 kW).
