Classic automaker Pontiac fell victim to the global economy meltdown of 2008, leaving its fan base stranded without new cars to look forward to. Perhaps the only proper way to drive a Pontiac nowadays is to buy a restomod, like the one pictured here.
The car started its life as a 1973 Pontiac Firebird Formula. It underwent a complete restoration not long ago, ending with 19-inch Billet Specialties alloy wheels in matte black, coilovers, and older-gen Corvette Z06 brake mechanisms working with Baer Racing perforated rotors and calipers. The result looks extremely clean and largely period-accurate, which is one of the main considerations among restomod buyers.
The interior drowns in a rea of light blue color with only a bare minimum of black and silver details thrown in for contrast. Modern features on board include a Vintage Air AC, multimedia with Apple CarPlay support, a Ringbrothers gear lever, and additional dash gauges. Smaller details, like aluminum window handles, complete the fashionable image.
The restomod relies on a 5.7-liter naturally aspirated V8 for propulsion, which pumps out around 400 horsepower (300 kilowatts) to the rear wheels through a Tremec six-speed manual box.
At an auction that closed earlier this week, someone gave $135,000 USD for this Pontiac.
