Drag Race: 830-PS Pontiac GTO vs. BMW M8 Competition

Around half a century ago, the Pontiac GTO Coupe helped kick-start the era of muscle cars, but it eventually went out of production. The GTO came back in a mid-size car body in mid-2000s, but never had too much success. Can a modified 2006 Pontiac GTO hold its own against the much more modern BMW M8 Competition? You are about to find out!

This specific GTO isn’t your average performance car, either. It packs a 6.2-liter V8 supercharged to 830 PS (819 hp / 610 kW), which is around twice the OEM power. Its owner had its LS3 V8 tuned for drifting with plenty of aluminum components, a thoroughly reinforced T56 transmission, and a Holley Terminator X engine control unit to keep things running as they should.

The M8 Competition is not stock, either. It benefits from custom wheels and tires, has performance-focused suspension and heat exchanger, and slams the wheels with around 900 PS (888 hp / 662 kW).

Better watch the video yourself, because it can be really tough to predict a winner in such a competition!
