Pontiac GTO-based Bugatti Veyron replica believes itself worth $150k

Settling for an imitation when you cannot afford the real thing can be justified sometimes, but at what price point do you draw the line?

The owner of this 2004 Pontiac GTO spent a small fortune remodeling it into a Bugatti Veyron lookalike, but, like most before it, ended up with only a passing semblance. The donor choice was obviously justified thanks to its similar dimensions and potent LS1 eight-cylinder under the hood. The tuner didn’t boost it further, but says he tweaked the sound to resemble that of the genuine W16. There is no telling without a video, of course.

As for the cabin, the seller boasts that it ‘looks like the real thing.’ Granted, the trim on the seats, the steering wheel and the dashboard all look nicely done, but comparing them to the real Veyron interior would be a major stretch.

And then there is the asking price. For a vehicle in need of some ‘minor’ maintenance, you are expected to hand over $150,000 USD. With the genuine Veyron starting around $2 million, it might seem somewhat justified, but your money would probably find much better use in a new sports car instead.

Or is your opinion different?
