1981 Pontiac Turbo Trans Am hides a 1,300-HP engine under the hood

An auction will be opening later today in Dallas, Texas with this 39-year-old Pontiac Turbo Trans Am coupe restomod as one of the main highlights. There is no mention of a price, but the owner of the car invested around $300,000 into restoring it to top condition and giving it 1,300 horsepower (969 kW).

Illinois-based tuner Schwartz Performance built this Trans Am under the name “Full Force”. It ended up with a robust modern frame capable of supporting a heavy-duty, 6.9-liter LS9 V8. The heavily tuned mill exceeded the stock 200 hp rating of the car by a factor of six and a half.

The old-timer also received reinforcements for the transmission, suspension and exhaust. Procar Scat Rally 1000 seats can be found in the cabin along with an air conditioner, a new instrument panel and a roll bar.
