Popular Japanese MPV pretends it’s a Chevy from the ‘80s

Like we reported before, Japanese tuner Damd is attending this year’s Tokyo Auto Salon with a Honda Freed-based custom minivan called Isolator. Just a few days ahead of the trade fair, Damd revealed another project with a similar-sounding name – the Resonator.

Based on the sixth-generation Honda StepWGN, it gets rid of the original MPV’s cutesy and family-friendly looks in exchange for a more aggressive aesthetic of the American 1980s. It rocks a squarish front end with stacked rectangular headlamps, a multi-part front grille composed of slim horizontal bars, and a rather elegant stamped hood. Flared fenders and fake-wood side decals complement the image, as do chrome-coated wheels.

To top things off, Damd adds orange marker lights to the front end and the roof above the windshield. If you like the styling, stay tuned for pricing and shipment details coming up in a day or two.
