The environment-friendly Porsche Taycan family will be available in three different trims: the baseline Taycan, the all-wheel-drive Taycan 4s and the top-specced Taycan Turbo. Prices will vary between U.S. 90,000 and 130,000, the manufacturer says.
The company had previously only used the ‘Turbo’ suffix to describe cars equipped with traditional internal combustion engines, plus a turbocharger or two – but never all-electric drivetrains. It looks like Porsche wants to make the new EV family comparable with the existing sport cars while also enticing some of its customer base to look into purchasing something new.
According to still unconfirmed sources, the hi-end Porsche Taycan will ship with two electric motors together capable of 600 hp / 447 kW. It is going to be able to sprint 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 3.5 seconds or so. The base Taycan is expected to get around 400 hp (300 kW), while the 4s will likely land with 500 hp (375 kW).
Aside from the above, the German car manufacturer will soon be unveiling another EV, an estate/SUV based on the Mission E Cross Turismo Concept.
