Porsche has released several new photos showcasing its upcoming Taycan SUV EV. The company claims the car is depicted in its final production version, but fine detail is hard to tell due to all the test mule camouflage still covering it top to bottom. The model will celebrate its show premiere in September 2019.
According to Stefan Weckbach, Porsche Vice-President in charge of developing the BEV product line, the vehicle upholds all of the key values of the German brand, including performance, emotions, quality control, and driver’s immersion.
Porsche CEO Oliver Blum has already tried the car out at the Arjeplog Circuit in Sweden. Following the test drive, he said the engineer team had succeeded in making the Taycan feel as close to the traditional gas-powered Porsche models as possible.
The compact SUV will arrive on the market in two trim versions mainly differentiated by battery capacity. The higher trim will also take advantage of a stronger powertrain rated at 600 hp / 447 kW, which should enable the car to sprint 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 3.5 seconds.
Porsche says it has received around 20,000 pre-orders for the model so far and even had to review its initial production plans to accommodate the higher-than-expected demand.
