Check out a Porsche racer mock-up priced like a real sports car

This Porsche 919 Hybrid racer from the Le Mans’ LMP1 category will go on sale in late April and is expected to fetch between €80,000 and €120,000 despite not having a drivetrain.

The car is, in fact, an intricate life-size model of the real racecar lacking any tech inside. The German automaker build 13 such mock-ups seven years ago based on the original 919 Hybrid drafts and schematics. Each one received a stainless-steel frame and glass-fiber body kit parts. Becker Design was responsible for the liveries.

Speaking of the real Porsche 919 Hybrid, the car has won Le Mans gold three times in 2015 through 2017. It has also set an absolute record at the Nürburgring, lapping up the circuit in 5 minutes 19.546 seconds (watch the video if you missed it). Its powertrain included a 2.0-liter V4 turbo and electric motors joining efforts for 800–950 PS (789–937 hp; 588 – 700 kW).

The successor model – the 919 Hybrid Evo – weighed in at 849 kilograms (1,872 pounds). It was no longer LMP1 compliant due to packing a rear-mounted petrol engine with 720 PS (710 hp / 530 kW) in conjunction with a front-mounted electric motor contributing another 439 PS (433 hp / 323 kW). It has a limited-slip differential with torque vectoring and an active aero kit for the lowest possible drag.
