66-year-old Porsche 356 restomod shines brighter than new

Porsche Santa Clarita has answered the Porsche Restoration Challenge with an extravagant ‘Galpinized’ take on the 1955 356 Speedster model.

As one can guess, the restoration was carried out in cooperation with Galpin Motors and its subsidiaries. The tuners have taken liberties with some of the body panels and aero kit parts, but made sure every little bit stayed historically accurate. Our favorite bits include, but are not limited to, both bumpers, the hood, and the turquoise body with gold accents.

The cabin stands out immediately thanks to its bizarre trim in turquoise, red, and blue. Paradoxically, the result doesn’t strike us as gaudy and actually looks rather fashionable. Retro-style seat upholstery and fine leather on every other surface help to reinforce that impression, of course.

Power comes from a naturally aspirated 1600SC flat-four mated to a manual gearbox. The company mentions extensive upgrades, but omits any numbers. The original 356 Speedster only made slightly over half a hundred horsepower, though, so this one can be depended upon to produce more.
