High-end EVs combine great power output with lightning-fast acceleration: take the Tesla Model S Plaid, which easily does its quarter-mile run in barely above nine seconds. The lack of manual gearbox option is the main downside for some buyers, though, and this is where Electrogenic comes in.
The company specializes in converting automotive classics into battery cars. Just a few days ago, it unveiled this Porsche 356 restomod equipped with a mechanical gearbox and OEM four-speed transmission. The developer of the project claims you can even safely rev up on neutral and hear the engine whirr as you do.
The powertrain comes in at just under £50,000, donor vehicle not included. The output amounts to 109 PS (107 hp / 80 kW) and 235 Nm (173 lb-ft) of torque.
