Restored Porsche 356 Emory Special looks factory new

Bringing a 61-year-old sports car back to life is no trivial task by any means, but Emory Motorsports is not your average restoration shop, either. A few years of work on a Porsche 356B Convertible culminated in a car that only an expert would identify as a restomod.

The project began with a bespoke hard top featuring an almost flat roofline. The top is removable, but the fitment is so seamless, you will be forgiven for thinking it is a coupe.

The nose of the donor vehicle was crumpled in an incident, so the tuner recreated it from scratch taking certain styling cues from the related 356A model, resulting in smoother lines. Interior additions included a safety cage, bucket seats with racing-grade safety harnesses, a three-spoke steering wheel and a retro dashboard. Once again, many of the components aren’t original, but they look like something this 356B had straight from the factory.

Pop up the engine bay lid to reveal a 2.4-liter Emory-Rothsport Outlaw 4 engine based on the flat-four mill of the Porsche 964. Its output of around 200 PH (200 hp / 150 kW) is quite adequate for a convertible weighing in at just 850 kilos (1,875 lbs).
