Video: Drone footage from inside the Porsche Museum

Drone manufacturer DJI has shared a video advertising the capabilities of its quadcopters. It is a fly-by tour of the Porsche Museum filmed with the consent from the Gemran sports car maker. In addition to the standard exhibition, the flyer captures quite a bit of behind-the-scenes footage and even pulls off a few risky aerial stunts.

The video starts with a fly-by of the Porsche restoration shop where the Porsche 953 originally created for the Paris–Dakar Rally stands. The drone then proceeds into the main halls of the museum, showing the main bulk of the car collection.

Rarities like 356 and 550 models pop into view, and a whole army of 911 models from all years imaginable can be seen. There is also the famous Porsche tractor, a number of award-winning track-focused supercars and road-legal icons like the Carrera GT.

Some maneuvers look downright risky, but the drone and its pilot manage just fine. For one, it flies through an opening in the engine bay of a 52-year-old Porsche 917K that won the Le Mans race back in the day. It also passes through the open windows of a 911 GT2, inches precariously close to some of the classics, scrambles under the bottom of a Cayenne and dives under the roll bar of a Formula E racecar.

For DJI, the video surely looks like a great opportunity to showcase the maneuverability and handling ease of its latest lightweight copter. One has to wonder just how they managed to persuade Porsche to let them pull off those stunts near priceless exhibits, though.
