Somebody has just purchased the unique Porsche 356 Speedster Homage, a project vehicle painstakingly stylized to resemble the marque’s very first sports cars. The winning bid amount was not disclosed, but it could be a tidy sum given the status of the car.
Porsche 356 gained a Speedster version in mid-50s. It proceeded to become quite popular and still remains one of the company’s most recognizable early models. DNA Automotive decided to offer a modern take on it.
Starting with a stock Boxster, the tuner replaced nearly all the bodywork. Judging by the photos, only the doors were left intact. New headlights and teardrop taillights were added along with a spoiler and two distinct aerodynamic ‘humps’ behind the seat headrests. The cabin stayed otherwise stock, unless you count the metallic seat inserts.
From the technical perspective, the car is a first-gen Boxster model equipped with an entry-level 2.7-liter engine and manual transmission. In its glory days, the mill could produce up to 220 PS (217 hp / 162 kW) and 260 Nm (192 lb-ft) of torque. The built was finalized five years ago and has barely been driven since then, but prior use on the car came close to 140,000 kilometers (87,000 miles).
