1968 Porsche 907 heading to auction in March, could sell for €6M

A 1968 Porsche 907 racecar that took part in a number of Le Mans and Nürburgring races will go under the hammer in Paris, France in March this year. It is the last from a series of 21 vehicles, and the selling price is expected to be between 4-6 million euros.

In its production year, the car hit only one major race, the 1000 Kilometers of the Nürburgring. It finished the 4th due to a refueling problem. Once properly maintained, the owner sold it to Spanish driver Alejandro Soler-Roig on January 10, 1969. The fact is reflected in a certificate signed by Ferdinand Porsche himself.

The car then continued its racing career for another several years, but began to be viewed as a collection piece in the mid-70s. Its current owner, racing enthusiast Ernst Schuster, bought it in 1983 to make it a part of his growing iconic sports car collection. Another full restoration followed in the mid-1990s, and the 907 had only taken part in shows and events since then.

The 2.2-liter eight-cylinder engine on board made 280 PS (276 hp / 206 kW) back in the time, which was more than enough for a racer weighing only 600 kilos (1,323 lbs). Out of the 21 units produced, the first 8 had an elongated rear and the rest were shorter. This is the shorter model.
