Gooding & Company to sell 12 rare Porsche cars at an auction

Gooding & Company, one of the world’s largest auction houses with specialization in classic and rare cars, will hold an auction for 12 rare Porsche vehicles this spring. The lot used to belong to James Haskell.

A 1987 Porsche 959 Komfort sedan is one of the highlights of the entire collection. Back in the time, it enjoyed the fame of being among the world’s fastest mass-produced cars. It was driven by a 2.8-liter, twin turbo flat engine with 456 hp and 500 Nm torque, could accelerate to 100 km/h (62 mph) from a standstill in 3.7 seconds and travel at a peak velocity of 315 km/h (195 mph). Only 337 Porsche 959 Komfort sedans were produced in 1987.

Another interesting specimen is a rare 2005 Porsche Carrera GT. Belonging to a limited series of slightly above 1,000 cars, this one comes equipped with an enormous naturally-aspirated ten-cylinder motor which can deliver up to 612 hp. Its starting price has been set at U.S. $1,000,000.

As we told in an earlier story, another collection of highly unique Porsche vehicles is going to be auctioned off this spring as well. The entire lot is considered to possess an exceptionally high collectors’ value, since every single car has been refurbished in a Porsche workshop prior to sale. Its price is estimated at no less than U.S. $7,000,000.
