The 75th anniversary Porsche Rennsport Reunion event that took place at the Laguna Seca Circuit in the United States this weekend hosted one of the slowest races to ever feature Porsche vehicles, CarBuzz reports. Some of the automaker’s best-known drivers hit the track driving agricultural tractors – yes, Porsche did produce some back in the time.
The list of participants included Patrick Long and Jörg Bergmeister from Flying Lizard, GT racing driver Nick Tandy, and ex-F1 driver, IMSA champion Felipe Nasr. For maximum style points, Porsche actually set up the start of the race in the same way as the Le Mans marathon: drivers ran towards their tractors lined up at the curbs, jumped in and switched on the ignition.
Not all tractors were the same, either: their technical parameters were different. To compensate for that, those driving the most powerful units were required to tow heavy trailers.
Aside from this exciting, if not necessarily fast, race, visitors could check out a collection of 300 special Porsches, including a 1973 Porsche 917/30 CanAm, a 909 Bergspyder, and a Le-Mans-winning 919 Hybrid.
