In March this year, Porsche will begin shipping its 718 Boxster and Cayman GTS entry-level models with the naturally aspirated, six-cylinder flat engine its high-end sports cars usually get. Linked to a six-speed manual gearbox, the four-liter mill churns out 394 hp (294 kW) and 419 Nm (309 lb-ft) of torque.
Both the Boxster and the Cayman take advantage of a new PASM sports suspension in this version, as well as a new exhaust system with a more powerful soundtrack. They also benefit from torque vectoring control and limited-slip differential gear (non-electronic).
To manage the added power, the company adds performance brakes to the spec with 350mm (13.6”) cast-iron discs and six-piston calipers on the front axle. The rear wheels get 330mm (12.9”) cast-iron discs, although you can opt for the more expensive ceramic ones instead.
In terms of appearance, both cars boasts new black body accents and blacked-out brake lights. The cabin trim involves generous amounts of Alcantara and carbon fiber.
