Porsche debuted four-liter, non-turbo versions of its 718 Cayman GT4 and 718 Spyder models last summer and gave the same engine to the 718 Cayman GTS and 718 Boxster GTS early in 2020. Six-speed manual was the only available transmission until recently, but following the launch of PDK semi-auto in the United States, it went on sale globally.
The 718 Spyder and 718 Cayman GT4 equipped with the new gearbox need 3.9 seconds to hit 100 km/h (62 mph) and 13.4 s to hit 200 km/h (124 mph). The 718 GTS 4.0 spec manages the same acceleration in 4 and 13.7 seconds, respectively. On an interesting side note, while the GTS uses a regular gear shifter, the GT4 borrows the lever design from the 911 GT3.
Other options include Race-Tex interior upholstery and Python Green body paint for the 718 Cayman GT4 and 718 Spyder. The latter can also be purchased with 20-inch gold-tinted wheels previously reserved for the Cayman GT4.
Sales start later this fall.
