Porsche is preparing to launch its first-ever all-electric sports car, named Taycan. Since the production won’t be starting any earlier than 2020, the manufacturer has posted a teaser video showing the upcoming vehicle.
The short-length vid posted on Porsche’s official YouTube channel just about succeeds in showing us the main outlines of the car and some of its LED lights through a dim haze. The brake light is a solid red LED band cutting across the entire rear part of the Porsche Taycan. The backlit letters underneath read “P O R S C H E”.
The concept version of the first environment-friendly Porsche sports car debuted two years ago in Paris. The vehicle came equipped with a pair of electric engines together capable of 600 hp / 447 kW. It could accelerate 0-100 km/h (0-60 mph) in mere 3.5 seconds and cover at least 500 kilometers (310 miles) prior to needing a recharge. Its battery set could also go from zero charge to 80% in a matter of 30 minutes when using a high-current station.
Rumor has it that the new Porsche Taycan will be priced at €90,000 and above – the same as the base version of Panamera.
