Porsche introduced unique carbon wheels

Porsche brand specially for one of the most extreme models of the 911, the Turbo S Exclusive Series, has developed completely carbon-fiber wheels.

In comparison with conventional light alloy wheels, disks made with the technology of "woven" carbon fiber, entirely composed of carbon fiber reinforced plastic, weigh 20 percent lighter (-8.5 kilograms) and much stronger.

The technology of creating such disks is quite laborious. For the production of material in Porsche use the world's largest machine for weaving a diameter of about nine meters. Each disks are uses eight square meters of material. After the product is collected, it is impregnated with resin, then quenched at high temperature and pressure. Next, the carbon wheel is varnished and painted. First, the whole disc is painted gold, and then top is covered with black. At the next stage, the wheel is laser treated to partially remove a layer of black ink, resulting in a finished disc that looks more contrast.

It is worth noting that Porsche was the first to apply such technology in the world car industry.

the cost of an unusual set of 20-inch carbon discs with a central fastener will be 15,232 euros in Germany.
