Espied: This could be the new Porsche 911 GT3

The next-gen Porsche 911 (992) range has only debuted in the coupe and convertible designs so far, with many more premieres still ahead. But what, exactly, is this vehicle recently photographed by car spotters? Our bet is on “the new 911 GT3”, but you may have a different opinion.

Rumor has it the next-gen 911 GT3 will be marginally lighter and at the same time more powerful than its predecessor. FYI, the current generation ships with 500 hp (373 kW) and 460 Nm (339 pound-feet) of torque, with the top trim being slightly ahead with 520 hp (388 kW) at its disposal.

The spotted test example has a rear wing no larger than that of the current GT3. Despite this, we expect improvements to the overall aerodynamics of the racecar that will enable it to complete the North Loop of the Nürburgring faster than ever before. At least, this is what the manufacturer considers one of the priorities.

The test mule also boasts new exhaust tips that are rectangular and located at the sides. The latest GT3 has round exhaust finishers sitting in the middle of the rear end.

All of the above notwithstanding, some car news websites actually believe that what we are dealing with here is not the next GT3 altogether, but rather a brand-new 911 model. There is also an interesting third opinion, claiming that this is simply a Porsche Carrera fitted with new options and accessories.
