Another Porsche 911 gets turned into a production SUV

The SEMA tuning show is a widely known destination for unhinged and radical car mods, but only rarely does a show car make it into production afterwards. This Porsche 911-based SUV did!

TJ Russel built his one-off rally car specifically so that he could brag about it to the Las-Vegas show guests, but ended up showered with production requests. He decided to roll with it and is now taking orders.

The donor vehicle is a Porsche 911 (964), but the scope of changes is astounding. The wheelbase is now 75 mm (3 inches) longer, and the wheelspan is a whopping 350 mm (14”) wider. The suspension travel amounts to 300 mm (12”) on the front axle and 340 mm (13.3”) on the rear axle. Almost the entire bodywork uses composite materials and aluminum, which makes it 180 kg (400 lbs) lighter than stock (the total curb weight is 1,270 kilos, or 2,800 pounds).

TJ Russell enlists the help of Rothsport Racing to bore out the car’s standard six-cylinder engine to 3.8 liters of displacement and boost it to 365 horsepower (272 kilowatts). Customers can choose between rear- and all-wheel drive.

The prices aren’t public yet and largely depend on your particular demands, anyway. One last important thing to note is that the car is fully street-legal. Russell Built Fabrication ships it with all the documents authorizing its use on public roads.
