Video: Porsche 911 Turbo S dreams it is a stunt motorbike

We have seen plenty of things happening on a drag strip, but for a stock-looking Porsche 911 Turbo S to pop a wheelie? Now THIS is something new!

Okay, so ‘stock-looking’ doesn’t really equal ‘stock’ in this particular case. Mark Blackwell has spent plenty of time and cash visiting one tuner after another to have his ride turned into a hypercar slayer in disguise.

The German ended up with its engine bored out to full four liters of displacement and its power surpassing the 1,000hp (750kW) mark. The standard Turbo S has around 570 hp (425 kW) at most, so the engineers had to reinforce the entire transmission for it not to fall apart under the load.

As wise as the abovementioned precaution may have been, it did nothing to prevent the rear-driven Porsche 911 from attempting a rear-wheel ride stunt at the runway. As soon as Mark floored the gas, the front end jerked up by about 60 cm (two feet). He released the pedal, but the second attempt had the Porsche happily rearing up again. Despite the rough start, the sports car proceeded to gain traction and zap through the quarter-mile in breezy 9.27 seconds. Scratched rear diffuser proved to be the only toll of the accident. Lucky you, Mark!
