Exclusive Porsche 911 (993) GT2 goes up for sale, costs $1M

RM Sotheby’s wants around 1,000,000 USD for this ultra-rare 1996 Porsche 911 GT2 with 30,000 km (18,640 miles) under the belt.

The 993 series was the first to get the ‘crazy’ GT2 spec. Its 3.6-liter turbocharged engine produced 430 hp (321 kW) along with 541 Nm (400 lb-ft) of torque. A six-speed manual transmission with a limited-slip differential delivered the momentum to the rear wheels.

The acceleration specs continue to impress to these days, but back in the mid-1990s, they were downright fantastic: the sports car zapped 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 4.4 seconds and maxed out just under 300 km/h (186 mph).

Other major features of the classical GT2 included carbon-ceramic brakes, specially designed 18-inch alloy wheels, GFRP fenders, and an enormous fixed rear wing.

The Porsche 911 (993) GT2 came out in a production run of 194 units. The car on sale additionally packs some paid factory options, such as the air conditioner, power windows, front airbags, tinted windshield, and a grey/black interior trim. The current owner imported it to the USA from Japan several years ago.
