Tuners don’t often go for making old cars appear older than they are, but DP Motorsport has done this time and again before. Today, let’s see it tackle a Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 Coupe.
The 35-year old 911 received a body kit that made it look like the range-topping Carrera RS from the early 1970s. This involved designing new wheel arches, bumpers, side skirts, hood cover, and 15-inch wheels. The team also refreshed and polished all chrome parts to enhance the vintage car impression.
The GT Silver Metallic paint is perhaps the only anachronistic detail in the otherwise accurate project, because it stems from the much more recent Carrera GT.
Inside, the quasi-retro bucket seats are wrapped in textile and imitation leather, and the Momo steering wheel is a joy to handle thanks to power steering. The lower front panel and the doors boast a leather-like trim that is actually made of interwoven GFRP strands.
The restomod comes powered by the same engine the 911.964 series used to get in 1989 through 1994: a 3.6-liter, opposite-six turbo mated to a manual gearbox and capable of 290 hp (216 kW). For greater authenticity, DP Motorsport decided against a modern HVAC for the project, putting in a simple cooling/heating fan instead.
