Singer’s Porsche 911 “The Colorado Springs Commission” is a timeless masterpiece

While the world is still recovering from the coronavirus outbreak, let us revisit one of Singer Vehicle Design’s greatest restoration projects and give it the attention it deserves.

The company built the Porsche 911 “The Colorado Springs Commission” in 2016 – 2017, giving a 991 Targa body a stylish makeover after the Porsche classics of the 1960s era. The grey coupe, with its smooth outlines and wine-red accents, is guaranteed to attract a great deal of attention at prestigious car shows with its refreshed, yet really timeless design.

Pop up the rear hood, and you’ll be looking at a custom four-liter opposite-six engine rated at 500 horsepower (373 kilowatts). The new mill is twice as powerful as the 30-year old one it replaces, but Singer doesn’t put too much stock in engine power, allowing its customers to decide whether to keep the stock engine, boost it or remove it. It’s still noteworthy that most ultimately go for the swap – and it looks like a sound decision, indeed, given that it revs up to nearly 11,000 RPM.

Rounding off the ultra-deluxe project is a complete interior makeover that replaces the removable soft top with a new one, adds a uniquely designed, handcrafted steering wheel, upgrades the seats, and introduces plenty of fine nostalgia-inducing details, such as the round instrument gauges and the assorted metallic décor.
