Theon Design, a not-so-well-known tuner from Great Britain, specializes in restoring of Porsche 911 of the 964 generation (late eighties to early nineties). Lovecars laid their hands on one such example not long ago.
The single thing that impresses us the most is how the tuners managed to power up the stock opposite-six engine by nearly fifty percent above its factory rating. They bored out the cylinders from 3.6 to 3.8 liters of displacement, replaced the valves and the fuel injectors, and installed different throttle bodies. In the end, what used to be 250 hp (186 kW) became nearly 370 hp (276 kW).
Moving on to the exterior, the team replaced the headlights and the mirrors, fitted new 17-inch Fuchs-style wheels and fender flares, added a ducktail spoiler in the back and swapped the old exhaust out for a quad-pipe unit. Coil-over suspension and performance brakes rounded off the rather extensive restoration project.
Lovecars points out the invariably high quality of execution, which is almost on par with the market’s best – Singer Vehicle Design, of course. Consider also that Theon doesn’t charge nearly as much for its work as Singer.
