New Porsche Cayman GT4 RS spotted out in the open

A pre-production copy of the performance-laden Porsche Cayman GT4 RS has recently cropped up on the roads. The camo is there, but you can still easily spot the differences between the current GT4 and its upcoming RS version.

The newcomer boasts a special aerodynamic kit, extra air intakes, a new exhaust system, a large rear wing, and centerlock wheels.

In all likelihood, the Cayman GT4 RS will keep its four-liter, induction-free flat-six engine, but the automaker still has to announce its power rating. The original GT4 has 420 PS (414 hp / 309 kW), and sources disagree whether the RS will have 450 PS (444 hp / 331 kW) or all of 500 PS (493 hp / 368 kW). The latter assumption looks rather unrealistic, because such a powerful Cayman would cannibalize 911 GT3 sales when that one comes out. As for the transmissions, six-speed manual and seven-speed PDK are both on the expectations list.

The reveal date remains unknown. Industry observers think prices would start at U.S. $130,000, a roughly 30% premium over the Cayman GT4 and about twice the price of the regular Cayman coupe.
