Gunther Werks has revealed the result of a three-year conversion project: a Porsche 993 reimagined as a carbon-bodied speedster.
The base vehicle is a stock fourth-gen Porsche 911 that you can catch a glimpse of in the attached video. It gets a full carbon body, an all-new cabin, and a seriously modified engine and transmission. Small details, such as aluminum mirror caps and door handles, round things off on the outside.
The main difficulty was in preserving the structural integrity of the body after removing the roof. The tuner had to retrofit the chassis with numerous reinforcements and replace the regular fixed windshield with a removable one. Care had to be taken to preserve the uniform exterior styling as well. All of the above considered, there is little wonder why the project took so long to finish.
Powering the ride is a naturally aspirated flat-six engine bored out to four liters of volume. An improved manual transmission conveys 435 PS (429 hp / 320 kW) and 454 Nm (335 lb-ft) of torque to the rear axle.
The interior is not shown on the photos, but the spec list mentions carbon-fiber bucket seats, a retro-styled aluminum dash cluster, and other appropriate upgrades.
