For about a year now, Porsche has been testing an off-road variant of its 911 classic in various parts of the world. Rumor has it the car is called “Dakar” and will debut in late 2022, but in the meantime, it continues running pre-production trials somewhere in Scandinavia.
Note the rugged wheel arches and high clearance – telltale marks of a rally-ready 911 quite different from the standard model. The suspension has obviously been upgraded, and abundant black tape probably conceals other modifications as well.
Even in its most basic version, the Porsche 911 Dakar will likely be an all-wheel-drive car. This means it should not be inferior to the Carrera 4S spec with its twin-turbo flat-six engine, 385 PS (380 hp / 283 kW) and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque. In fact, it could be more powerful that the 4S.
