Porsche has been talking about the upcoming 911 Hybrid for a few years now, but a recent interview with the executives shed light on the priorities the company has in this department.
As it turns out, the electrified 911 will not be a plug-in hybrid. This means you will not be able to charge it up from a wall socket. Instead, it will be a mild hybrid with a small enough battery to stay light and maneuverable. Becoming a PHEV would make the sports car quite unnecessarily heavy.
A representative of Porsche also pointed out that the electric component of the impending 911 Hybrid was designed to be efficient, rather than powerful. This appears to be in line with the manufacturer’s decision to keep the sports car on the market by minimizing its emissions.
