Sofia-based startup tuning firm Modern Classics unveiled this electrified Porsche 911 G-Series Carrera last week, and we now have all the principal details about the build.
The source car was produced in the first half of the 1970s and was the first 911 model to get a turbocharged setup. This example, however, trades its ICE bits for an electric system of the old-gen, high-end BMW i3. While most such projects use Tesla motors and sometimes also Tesla batteries, this one stands out as a rarity. What gives?
Essentially, the car has a single electric motor rotating its rear wheels with 184 PS (181 hp / 135 kW). It may not sound like much by modern standards, but keep in mind that the original G-Series Carrera needed almost 7 seconds for its standard sprint exercise and maxed out at 160 km/h (100 mph).
Where the project truly shines is the tech and features department. There are plentiful modern gimmicks on board, such as ABS, ESP, hill climb assist and support for various charging modes, both quick and slow. A peek inside the cabin reveals a BMW infotainment system, while the gauges keep that stylish analog look.
