Paul Walker’s Porsche 911 to go on sale in late August, estimated at $1M

One out of the 1,580 Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 coupes from the 1970s will go on sale next month with a celebrity background attached and in a fully restored condition.

The German sports car maker produced the Carrera RS 2.7 for homologation purposes (see video). The planned quantity did not exceed 500 units, but it quickly became a hit, and the company decided to extend the production run. The late Paul Walker from the Fast and Furious movie franchise bought and drove this example.

Compared to the standard 911 model of that era, the homologation special weighed in at less than 1,100 kilograms (2,425 pounds) in the base spec. It also had suspension and aerodynamic improvements, and relied on a flat-six engine to propel it forward with 210 PS (207 hp / 154 kW) and 255 Nm (188 lb-ft) of torque.

It is also considered the world’s first production car to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) in fewer than six seconds (5.8, to be specific). The top sped was no less impressive at 245 km/h (152 mph).

This example has respectable 93,774 km (58,268 miles) on the odo, but its drivetrain, suspension and brakes have been recently restored to peak condition.

The sale will take place in the United States in the second half of August with some market observers believing it could fetch up to a million USD.
