The 911 Sally Special has been painstakingly stylized to resemble Sally Carrera from the 2006 animation film Cars. Only some design sketches have been revealed so far, but the finalized coupe will debut on August 13 and go on sale a week after that date.
Sally Carrera is a female sidekick of the movie protagonist, Lightning McQueen. Her character lives in a fictional town named Radiator Springs and is based on a 2002MY Porsche 911 Carrera. In contrast, the manufacturer says it will use the current generation of the 911 to base the replica upon, thus celebrating 20 years since Sally’s birth.
A team of experts assisted by Pixar animators are currently building the car at the Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur in Zufenhausen, Germany. The project is still at fabrication stage.
No prices have been named, but the entire amount earned will be donated to charities, including refugee help centers.
