Singer switches focus from n/a Porsche 911s towards Turbos

Singer Vehicle Design may be primarily famous for its world-class Porsche 911 (964) restorations, but CEO Rob Dickinson believes the company could do with a change of pace and priorities.

Singer has built 450 jaw-droppingly gorgeous Porsche 911 models in the past 12 years, every single one of them naturally aspirated, and will not be taking any more such orders in the near future. According to Dickinson, wrapping up production will ramp up the value of the existing restomods and be serve as a sign of respect for customers who wanted their 911 conversions to be exclusive and even unique on many levels, not barely different from others.

For now, the company will be switching full attention to its latest project called Turbo Study (featured in the gallery here). It will continue using the 911 (964) model as the starting point, but only its turbocharged version from now on. Per Dickinson, the upgrade will take a few months to complete, but will unlock ‘staggering’ amounts of torque.

Singer has already reported taking around 70 pre-orders for these turbocharged restomods since the beginning of the year. All technical parameters remain to be revealed later, but the 3.8-liter mill currently used in these projects normally maxes out at 510 PS (503 hp / 375 kW).
