There were numerous premieres at the Monterey Car Week this year, so let us cover them a few at a time. For today, let us look at this gorgeous Porsche 911 Carrera Targa restomod built by famous tuner Galpin Motors.
The car was made in 1974 and belonged to a production batch of only 246 units made for the United States that year. As you can see, it is a rally racer through and through. The original Targa roofline is still intact, but the body flaunts a juicy new light-green-and-orange livery adorned with white stripes.
Powering the racer is its usual 2.7-liter flat-six engine. A mild increase in cylinder volume allows it to pump out 183 PS (181 hp / 136 kW), which is 8 horsepower above standard. The suspension, in turn, receives a full Stage 4 Elephant Racing Safari System treatment with RSR roll stabilizers, MCS coil-over springs, and more. Oh, and the brakes originate from a more modern 986 Boxster model.
Galpin did not mention any pricing specifics, but the pre-conversion Carrera cropped up on sale around five years ago and changed hands for $125,000.
