Artists dip an old Porsche 911 into the sea to make an art car out of it

Polish artists Ada Zielinska and Rafał Dominik have designed an art object from an older Porsche 911T. Dubbed ‘Sunken Romance’, the car poses as a rust-eaten hull lifted from the ocean depths, but don’t let the appearances fool you: it is new.

The project was actively supported by the Poland branch of Porsche, which helped the artists find a suitable 1973 Porsche 911T and negotiate the conditions with its owner.

The artist duo then aged the body of the car with artificial rust and tons of seaweeds and barnacles, both fake and real. During the presentation, the car was suspended on a crane above water to create the impression of a fresh bottom find.

Once the show was complete, the exterior was thoroughly cleaned of all the mascara and the Targa made it back home to its owners. Make sure to watch the video to learn the story behind the project – it is one of tragic love.
