Porsche launches a new €1520 head unit for older cars

Porsche continues designing state-of-the-art infotainment units for its classic cars. Dubbed the Classic Communication Management, the latest product costs €1,520 in Europe and targets the less-up-to-date Boxster, Cayman, Cayenne and 911 models.

Specifically, all models produced between 2003 and 2008 have a multimedia system on board, but an outdated one with limited functionality. The new unit offers the same 7 inches of screen real estate, but a richer feature set and improved graphics. It also slots in seamlessly and looks like something the older car had straight from the factory.

The PCCM does not require any modifications of the standard infotainment slot and can work with the available sound amplifier, speakers and radio antenna. The dashboard display continues working as normal, too. Those who would like to use 3D navigation in their Porsche, make phone calls and connect to the head unit via Android Auto or Apple CarPlay will appreciate to know that all of the above is supported, too.

This is the first time on record that Porsche delivers a head unit compatible with multiple regional standards. The system can be easily set to work with DAB+ digital radio in Europe or SiriusXM in the USA, no replacements necessary.
