A homegrown stretch limo jury-rigged from a pair of 1974 Porsche 911 Targas with a 959 body kit slapped on top is up for grabs in the United States for a token sum of $18,000. Once outfitted as a camper, the car is now in a rundown and half-decayed state without an engine, so the only value we see here is in its background.
The seller claims that the camping limo was built in the early 1990s to participate in One Lap of America. It was an amateur long-haul race in which the participants visit a number of racetracks all across the country and are obligated to drive from one to another on their own cars. It lasted around a week on average.
This particular vehicle was custom-ordered by Rocky Aoki, a once-famous amateur wrestler. He wanted it turned into a camper of sorts so that he could take a nap between the races without leaving his car. This is how the stretched 911 ended up with a full-blown sleeping area. Also visible in the photos are an improvised kitchenette with a faucet and a VCR.
The car had stayed motionless for the past two decades and was never even registered. Very little of its interior survived the test of time (except for the Recaro seats at the front, it seems), the body was damaged, and the engine was removed – stolen, per the owner. As bleak as the future looks for the limo, its seller claims it can still be restored to peak condition.
