Video: Base Porsche 911 Carrera still impresses with its acceleration chops

Porsche is offering a whole lineup of 911 modifications, but even the most basic RWD Carrera can show everyone on a highway the taillights.

The passport numbers state that the car needs 4.2 seconds for a sprint from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) and maxes out at 293 km/h (182 mph). However, the example in the video manages to hit 312 km/h (193.9 mph) – at least, according to the speedometer.

As we all know, most modern speedometers are tuned to err on the side of optimism to discourage reckless driving. As such, one may assume that the speed this Porsche was moving at was its actual top speed. It is still highly impressive given that the sports car makes do with 385 PS (380 hp / 283 kW) at the rear wheels.
